Posted May 4th.- We had twelve teams enter our April 26th Open Tournament out of Bob’s on the Northwest River. The fishing was tough for most with only six teams weighing in fish. That was not the case for Mike Conner and Al Napier who placed first with 10.4lbs. Tim Ackal and Jim Leavis finished second with 4.6 lbs., while Thomas Covington was third with 3.2 lbs.

Kevin & Geophery Mills placed first ($220) with 9.10 lbs. Glenn DesOrmeax and his partner Ken placed second ($60) with 9.6 lbs. They also had the lunker ($100), their hawg weighed 7.6 lbs (see below pic). Dennis Padgett & Tom Sewell finished third ($40) with 8.14 lbs. Congrats to all the winners! All the tourney pics can be viewed at the "Your Pics" tab on our website.
Posted Mar. 14th- Our first tourney of the year, held Mar. 8th on the North Landing River, was a rough one. Wind gust up to 35mph and driving rain most of the day. Kevin Mills & Mike Crescini still figured them out with five for 10.8 lbs. John Goodman & Mike Conner placed second with two for 4.12 lbs. Kevin & Mike also had the lunker at 5.8 lbs. Great job guys! Due to a camera malfunction the pics did not turn out. Sorry! Posted Mar. 4th- We had to change our March 8th (this Saturday's) launch location to West Landing Marina due to the ramp closing at Capt. George's. Please note, I said West Landing Marina "NOT WEST NECK MARINA." As noted, they are ticketing boaters for launching at Capt. George's since it's been sold. Scroll to the bottom of the tournament dates page for directions to West Landing Marina. Posted Feb. 25th- Mike Evans won our last Pot Luck tourney out of Bob's Saturday. He had two nice fish, both around three pounds. The weather was terrible, cold and wet. We delayed launch a few minutes due to lightening. Now its time to prepare for the regular season kick off, on the North Landing River, in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all your support during the off season, the Pot Luck's were a lot of fun and we had some pretty good turnouts. Posted Feb. 19th- This Saturday will be our last Pot Luck big fish tourney out of Bob's 9am-2pm. It should take a nice fish to claim top honors. We hope to see you there! Posted Feb. 12th- We held our Pot Luck tourney at Bob's Saturday, Big fish was 2.12 and second place was 2.10. We had around 12 boats enter.
Posted Jan 27th- We held our Pot Luck tourney out of Bob's yesterday, we had seven boats and nine anglers. Not a bad showing considering how cold it was. The water was extremely low and water temps were in the low 40's. Some spots on the river were iced over in the morning. We fished for big fish only and Ronnie Mcluaghlin took first place with a nice 3.13 pounder. Dale Waggoner had the second place fish.
Posted Jan 25th- Don't forget our "Pot Luck" tourney out of Bob's tomorrow. Posted Jan 25th (Club Meeting Results)- We held our club meeting on Weds the 23rd to discuss the 2008 tournament season and discuss other club matters. While we did agree to make some changes, the changes were not significant. We will continue to fish the same bodies of water but instead of a draw we will have predetermined locations. We held a draw for the 2008 tourney locations and the outcome has been posted in the "Tournament Dates" tab. We agreed to eliminate the fishing boundaries on the given bodies of water. Our spring and fall tournaments times will be extended one hour, summer tourney times will remain the same. We agreed to tally team standings by weight - not points - for the 2008 season. Only weights obtained at the first tournament of each month (always held on the second Saturday) will accumulate for each team. We agreed to eliminate the tourney plaques and award year end trophies to the top three teams & lunker of the year. We agreed to present these at a year end party. Daryl is working on putting together some samples for club shirts, hats, and jackets. If you would like to order club gear, you will be required to prepay for your order. We had eleven teams represented at the meeting. Thanks to all in attendance and welcome to all the new members! Posted Jan. 13th 2008- We will hold our annual meeting on Wednesday Jan 23rd at the Golden Coral on Volvo Pkwy. and Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake at 7:00 PM. Lot's of items to discuss for the upcoming season and we're always looking for new ideas/suggestions. Anyone interested in membership is encouraged to attend and see what we're up to this coming year. Please be prepared to pay your $25 membership fee at the meeting. Bill Chartlon placed first with 3.14 lbs, Geophery Mills was second with 3.12 lbs, and Dennis Padgett was third with 3 lbs. Thanks to everyone for a great turnout and great time! Posted Nov. 25 2007- The Back Bay Bass Anglers Club had seven boats enter their “Pot Luck” tourney at Bob’s yesterday. We fished for big bass only, winner take all. The bite was tough with the water way down. Most of the fish were caught on crankbaits. The top four fish were brought in by Bill Charlton, Tim Ackal, Robert Stamey, and John Goodman. Bill’s 2.10 pounder proved to be enough to top the field, while John finished second. Congrats to Bill and thanks to all for a great time. Our next tourney “Pot Luck” tourney will be out of Bob’s Dec 8th. These tournaments are open to anyone who would like to enter. Hope to see you there! Posted Nov. 23 2007- For our “Pot Luck” tourney, tomorrow Nov 24th, we are going to fish out of Bob’s Fishing Hole on the Northwest River. There’s no need to show up at Capt. George’s, just go straight to Bob’s. We will fish from 9am-2pm for lunker only, big fish wins the pot! Entry fee is $10 per angler, plus figure $5 dollars for the launch fee. Hope to see you there! Posted Nov. 10th 2007- Congrats to Jamie & Jon McLaughin for winning today's Pot Luck Tourney out of Capt. George's. We fished for Big Bass and they won with an approximate 2 pounder. The rest of us only managed one a little over a pound. I posted the pics in the Your Pics area of our site. Our next "Pot Luck" tourney is scheduled for Nov. 24th. Once again, we will launch out of Capt. George's at 9am. Posted Nov. 6th 2007- Don't forget this Saturday's Pot Luck tourney from 9am-2pm out of Capt. George's...See below post! Details to be discussed at our January Club meeting. Posted Oct. 27th 2007- We had six teams enter our first "Pot Luck" tourney out of Capt. George's. We fished for big fish only. While most teams caught plenty of fish, the bigger fish were not playing. Congratulations to Tim Ackal & Bob Bullen for finishing 1st. They took the total purse of $70 dollars. Not bad for a fun day on the water coupled with the normal ramp comrade. A steady rain and stiff winds did make for some tough conditions. Hope to see you at our next one Nov. 10th.
